6. How does orthodontic insurance work?
Simple Insurance Guidelines
At
Hendrix Orthodontics, we gladly accept your dental insurance and will
be happy to assist you in understanding your dental benefits and determining
your exact amount of orthodontic coverage. For your convenience, we
will also promptly complete and submit all insurance forms for you
and your family. We are determined to work with you and your insurance
company to ensure that you receive the maximum benefit possible under
your policy. We have found that the more you know about your individual
insurance policy, the easier it is to process your claim. In order
to assist, we have provided the following answers to the most commonly
asked questions regarding dental insurance.
Please keep in mind that our primary financial relationship is with
our patients and their families and not with the insurance company.
We realize that understanding your orthodontic insurance can be difficult
at times, and we welcome any questions you might have. Thank you in
advance for your cooperation.
How Does Orthodontic Insurance Work?
There are many different agreements between insurance carriers and
their subscribers, and each contract provides a slightly different
benefit. Orthodontic insurance generally differs from regular medical
insurance in that it rarely pays for orthodontic treatment in full.
The benefit is paid as a percentage of the orthodontic professional
fee until the maximum has been reached.
Each insured individual usually has a lifetime maximum benefit for
orthodontic services. This benefit may vary from as little as $500
to more than $2,000 depending on the type of insurance purchased.
Unfortunately, charges for lost or broken appliances are rarely covered
by insurance.
How will our office assist you with your
insurance?
Our office will generate a customized insurance form on our computer
that describes the orthodontic problem(s), the required treatment,
the length of treatment time, and the financial arrangements for your
individual case. Please bring an original, signed insurance form to
our office so that we may complete the additional information necessary
to process your claim. We will submit the completed form in a timely
fashion to your insurance carrier to apply for partial reimbursement
of your orthodontic fees.
How can you maximize your benefit?
It is important for you to understand thoroughly your dental insurance
benefits before any treatment begins. If you are not sure, please
contact your insurance company so that you know exactly what benefit
is provided for orthodontic treatment. Although we will apply all
of your insurance payments to your account, please remember that you
are ultimately responsible for all charges incurred in our office
and that you are personally responsible for any balance not paid by
your insurance company. We sincerely appreciate your understanding
in this matter.
